Plant scabrid or subglabrous. Leaves long-petiolate; lamina: 2.5—7 x 3.5—12 cm, ovate-suborbicular in outline, cordate, palmately, deeply 3—5 (—7)-lobed almost to base, sinus generally broad, somewhat shallow, lobes lanceolate, acute to acuminate, coarsely, irregularly serrate, scabrid above with minute raised scales, generally subglabrous beneath, except occasionally sparsely hispid on major nerves. Petiole (0.5—) 2—5 cm long, short-bristly scabrid to glabrous. Flowers greenish-yellow, in subsessile clusters of 3—6; calyx lobes c. 3 mm long, linear-filiform to subulate, connate below; corolla 3—4 mm, lobes ovate-oblong, acute, pubescent. Fruit c. 2 cm diameter, globose, smooth, bluish-green with vertical whitish stripes, ripening red. Seeds 4 x 3 mm, encircled by prominent, raised band, brown. (FOC)
